Why is "D.O.T." so desirable for DCs? Because providing DOT services to industries really establishes the DC inside the door. The IACOHC observes across the nation, that DCs providing DOT services are consistently asked to provide injury prevention and other occ-health services.

The IACOHC partners with state chiropractic associations (and other institutions and organizations) for delivering 8-12 hour continuing education programs. Topics are broad and related specifically to chiropractic occupational health and applied ergonomics. From 'getting started' in either marketing to or serving employers, to performing specific services, state associations and chiropractic educational institutions may inquire. Contact: Elizabeth L. Currently, Northwestern Health Sciences University (Bloomington, MN) has the Diplomate "Chiropractic Occupational Health & Applied Ergonomics" postgraduate program available by distance learning (DVD). If you are needing to get a solid start in this specialty, purchasing the first 3 sessions of Phase 1 can prove highly useful. Conveniently, the distance learning program is available to you for getting involved in occ-health consulting (but we hope you will decide the entire program is most beneficial to you).

** It should be noted that there is not a program of topic available anywhere that is promised to meet the upcoming federal educational component. While some market a DOT Phys. Exam program as "the bee's knee" - the one that the feds will embrace - there is absolutely no promise from the feds to any one source about that. Having said that, it is still worth the investment for DCs to take part in such programs but not to anticiapte it will be the ultimate federal program.
