Occupational
health consulting is a specialty of the chiropractic profession.
Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) practicing in the specialty focus their
professional practice on workplace safety, health and wellness
while others include it as a component to their clinical practice. Educational
requirements for DCs are largely focused specifically on body mechanics
and anatomy, moreso than in most health care professions of various disciplines.
When employees suffer work-related musculoskeletal injuries the Doctor
of Chiropractic should be the first person called for accurate diagnosis
and drug-free, noninvasive treatement. Drugs impair judgement and motor
abilities. Over use, and overly-prescribed surgical procedures are rampant
in our nation, when many MSD injuries are simply treatable without surgery.
DCs hold a tremendous value to employers in being able to return injured
workers back to work as soon as it is safe for lighter or modified work.
Transitioning the individual back to work can be therapeutic while reducing
the potential for disability, litigation and in general counters much
of the psychosocial risks factors that make returning to work challenging
for many.
As Doctors of Chiropractic we are cost-effective, prevention-oriented
health care providers of drug-free, noninvasive treatment for injured
workers.
